‘Please Stop’: Jessi Speaks Out Against Death Threats After Fan Attack Controversy

Jessi, a popular K-pop soloist, was embroiled in major controversy after a teenage fan who approached her to take a selfie was attacked by a man who was with her. Although the Gum singer claimed that she didn’t know him and only met him that night for the first time, netizens labeled her as a bystander. As the controversy grew, she even began receiving death threats from anti-fans.

On her Instagram on October 23, Jessi shared a screenshot of a comment that read: “The best news would be that she committed suicide by taking medication, that would be good news. So I’ll be waiting for that.”

In the caption, she wrote: “Please stop…”, asking anti-fans. His fans reacted strongly to the situation. Coming to the rapper’s defense, they also asked these people to stop making death threats. Other K-pop fans are also supporting her, saying that she has always stood by other artists when they were involved in controversies.

For the unversed, controversy arose when reports surfaced that a teenage fan approached Jessi on the morning of September 29 when she was in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. As shown in CCTV footage, the fan approached her to take a selfie, however, a man who was there with her quickly attacked him. Jessi tried to stop the attack, but left the scene shortly after.

According to the police, the team sent to the scene after receiving the victim’s report saw Jessi and her friends from afar. She was asked about the perpetrator’s background, but she reportedly said she knew nothing.

After the incident quickly became the talk of the town, Jessi apologized on her social media, saying she met the man who attacked the fan for the first time that night. She also promised to find the culprit and punish him with the help of law.

However, amidst the controversy, the incident resurfaced, worsening the matter. According to an alleged victim, she was assaulted by Jessi and her entourage in 2013 at a nightclub in Itaweon. Needless to say, this completely complicated the matter.
