Mom Captures the Sweetest Way Baby Comforts Herself While She’s Out of the Room

A mum captured heartwarming footage of the moment her baby snuggled into her empty bathrobe while she was away.

Alice Fisher, from County Wicklow, Ireland, is a single mother to her 7-month-old son Mylo. Fisher cares for Mylo full-time, so they are rarely apart. However, sometimes he has to go away to take care of something around the house.

Although it doesn’t always make things easier for moms and dads, this bond between parent and child is crucial. A 2023 study published in Frontiers of psychology found that the more time parents spend with their children, the higher their children’s well-being is likely to be.

Luckily, in Fisher’s case, her son found an adorable stopgap for these situations, as she recently discovered to her delight. In a video posted to TikTok last week under the username @alicefisher26, the busy mom captured the moment Mylo started snuggling into the bathrobe she had left on the bed.

Fisher said News week her son is “very attached” to her and they share “a very close bond.”

“He likes to keep my dress close to him to smell me,” she added. “I thought it was a nice video of him to share and I didn’t expect so many views and comments.”

At the time of writing, the video has been viewed over 2.9 million times on TikTok.

“You are his whole world to him,” one TikTok user commented. “I can honestly say that being a mother is the greatest gift of all. It’s not easy but their hugs and smiles make up for it.”

Another user shared an equally adorable story and wrote: “When my son was 3 months old, he was inconsolable. I was sitting in the hospital with my mom. My husband gave my baby a shirt I was wearing that day. My baby played with it for 20 minutes and then he fell asleep.

A third posted: “When I was little I would snuggle into my mum’s dressing gown when I was upset or scared and she was at work. I forgot about that.”

Commenting on the video’s popularity, Fisher agrees: “There are a lot of comments from people saying they did the same thing when they were kids and a lot of people who also have to leave their kids to go to work and also because Mylo’s is super cute.”

Fisher said that while daily love and affection are crucial, having things like dresses can help prepare children for adulthood.

“I think it’s really important to cuddle and show affection to our babies as much as possible,” she added. “But giving a comforter like my bathrobe is a great way for babies to soothe themselves and be a little more independent, as you can see Mylo performs in the video because it has the comfort of my bathrobe.”
