US airline pilot caught with stun gun at Edinburgh airport

An American airline pilot has admitted carrying a high-voltage stun gun in his luggage at Edinburgh airport.

Ryan Cecil, 56, was found carrying the gun in his carry-on luggage while trying to board a flight he was flying to New York in January.

Cecil, a United Airlines captain, initially claimed it was a torch, but later admitted it was a legal stunning device in most US states.

He claimed he had accidentally carried it with him and was ordered to pay a fine of £8,500 as an alternative to a prison sentence.
