DRIVERS are scrambling to take advantage of a sale on an important auto part with an excellent warranty.

Even without a discount, the part is cheaper than most auto parts stores year-round.

If you don’t go to Costco for discounts on bulk items or free samples, you should go to Costco for deals on tires and car batteries.

A battery is a part that all vehicles need because it powers accessories such as the radio, headlights, wiper blades and turn signals, and is essential for starting the vehicle.

At Costco, according to La Grada, Interstate brand batteries are available at a 50 percent discount in select stores.

Many Costco stores offer batteries for cars, trucks, boats and more, with the highest price being $129.99 and the lowest price being $49.99 in the United States.

The standard car battery at Costco ranges from $89.99 to $92.99.

Actual cost varies depending on store location and vehicle type.

La Grada mentioned a TikTok user who posts content about Costco deals in Canada, where the standard Kirkland automotive battery costs $149.99, or $109.41 USD.

Kirkland is Costco’s “in-house” brand, so anything with the Kirkland label is usually less expensive than the name-brand alternative.

For example, the Energizer automotive battery listed on the site, of the same size, power and weight, costs $100 more than Kirkland’s alternative.

And, as La Grada pointed out, the Kirkland battery warranty is more customer-friendly.

I was £20,000 in debt as a 38-year-old mum, but now I make £1.2k extra money a month just from shopping at Costco – my credit cards are always paid off too entirely.

The Kirkland battery has a two-year free replacement period for any reason, with 100 months prorated.

The Energizer battery has a longer warranty of five years, but it is severely limited in terms of replacement parameters.

Since May 23, Canadian Costcos are selling batteries at a 50 percent discount with no change in warranty.

In addition to the price and warranty, the reimbursement of the basic costs on old batteries makes the offer even more attractive.

Bringing in your car’s old battery gets you $10 off the new battery, bringing the price down to $64.50 when the sale is applied.

If you’re not a member, an individual membership costs $60 per year for the standard tier.

Signs Your Car Battery Needs Replacement

Even without a battery tester, there are a few signs that your battery is about to die, according to NAPA Auto Parts:

The lifespan of a battery varies depending on the climate, the condition of the terminals, the type of battery and the condition of the alternators.

However, there are a few telltale signs that the battery may need to be replaced soon.

  1. Your car is having trouble starting. If your car takes a little longer to start than usual, it may mean that your battery is struggling to provide the amount of energy needed to start.
  2. Your car won’t start at all. This is a late sign of a dead battery, but if the car won’t start or even attempts to start when you turn the key, the most likely culprit is a dead battery.
  3. Electrical incidents like the radio not turning on.

If the battery is relatively new – between one and three years old – a few things can be checked before replacing the battery to see if its performance improves:

  1. Corrosion on terminals. Sometimes corrosion can build up on the terminals and make it more difficult for the battery to distribute power, which can lead to starting difficulties. Corrosion can be cleaned with a wire brush.
  2. Physical damage. Since some automakers place batteries in places like the trunk instead of the engine compartment, a rolling object in the trunk could have dropped something or caused damage.
  3. Age. The lifespan of a battery depends on the type of battery, but the standard rule is between three and five years. Glass mat batteries, however, can last six to eight years, although they are more expensive.
