The artist responsible for creating Kate Middleton’s Tatler artwork has finally spoken out after massive backlash.

The British-Zambian artist started the whole conversation by admitting: “It’s a fantastic story – and they (critics) can do whatever they want.”

For those unfamiliar, fans around the world became angry once the issue was exposed. Many even went so far as to call it inappropriate given what the princess is facing at the moment.

As for the work itself, she also made a surprising admission about her process.

Although she has about three weeks to complete the work, she admitted to Tatler, “once I start painting it will only take me two or three days.”

According to Daily Mail she also explained the thought process behind the choices and admitted that her work primarily attempts to “challenge assumptions.”

According to the artist, “All my portraits are made up of layers of personality, built from whatever I can find about them. »

Before signing, she also spoke about the princess’s role as a future monarch and mother. So much so that it led her to say: “She really lived up to her role – she was born for it.” She carries herself with such dignity, elegance and grace. I feel with her the joy of motherhood.
