The preliminary investigation revealed that a young boy entered the business and presented a weapon to the vendor, demanding goods. Police said the clerk did not comply and the suspect fled Metro Mart without taking anything.

The Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene, investigated and followed up on leads. The police found the minor and took him into custody.

After consultation with the Department of Juvenile Justice, a complaint of attempted theft was obtained. The juvenile was transported to the Wake County Juvenile Detention Center.
