Newsflash • Frederick Police Department Announces Graduation

The Frederick Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of its 67th class. The ceremony took place today, May 24, 2024, at the JBK Theater at Frederick Community College, where twelve student officers representing three law enforcement agencies were honored for successfully completing their rigorous training program .

The Academy’s 67th graduating class began training on October 16, 2023, and over the past eight months has dedicated nearly 1,400 hours of comprehensive instruction. This training, provided by the Frederick Police Department Training Academy, accredited by the Maryland Police Training Commission, prepares recruits not only for the Frederick Police Department but also for neighboring law enforcement agencies.

Our academy curriculum is designed to integrate community policing strategies with a strong emphasis on scenario-based learning, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared to serve and protect our communities.

Following today’s graduation, the ten officers joining the Frederick Police Department will begin a critical 10-week field training and evaluation program. This program is a key part of their transition from academic training to practical field experience, exposing them to real-world situations under the guidance of seasoned FPD officers.

The Frederick Police Department’s exceptional training staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure our new officers meet the highest standards, include:

Lieutenant Kevin Meyer, Support Services Division Commander
Sgt. Ryan Forrest, Training Unit Supervisor
Cpl. Shannon Stream, Assistant Training Unit Supervisor
