ST. LOUIS – Topps, a manufacturer of sports trading cards, is traveling the country with new cards to honor the Negro Leagues. The tour’s most recent stop was in St. Louis.

A new 24-foot baseball card of Satchel Paige was unveiled Friday at Busch Stadium.

“We are partnering with Fanatics Collectibles to bring this incredible project to fruition. Where every week we unveil a new map at a new stop before the Rickwood Game which celebrates the Negro Leagues. We’re really excited to be here,” said Sami Polanco, Head of Brand Marketing and Partnerships at FOX Sports.

To build excitement for the St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants game on June 20 at Rickwood Field, the oldest professional baseball stadium in the United States, Topps launched a six-city tour to unveil Negro League Baseball cards Legends.

Several fans enjoyed taking photos in front of the painting that artist Micah Johnson created using only his fingers, charcoal sticks, an eraser and a paint roller. The six-card collection features legends Satchel Paige, John Gibson, Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, Larry Doby and Monte Irvin.

“We just found out here from our St. Louis Cardinals ticket sales team that they will be hosting viewing parties here. So the people who can’t make it, they’ll get it there,” Polanco said.

The Satchel Paige card is now available on the Topps website with a new card released each week until the full six-card collection launches on June 20. Games can be watched on FOX Sports.
