Numerous grass fires in Kansas on Thursday

SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – Many Kansas counties faced an increased wildfire threat Thursday, leading to actual fires in some of them.

The major grass fire in Sedgwick County was just one of many in the state.

Cowley County Fire District IV shared photos of a fire south of Milan in western Sumner County. Cowley firefighters assisted as part of the Sumner County Wildfire Task Force.

KSN Chief Meteorologist Lisa Teachman said she also received reports of fires in Chase, Finney and Douglas counties.
