A shocked family in Kenya has recalled the moment a rogue lioness scaled the walls of their gated home and stole their dog in less than 10 minutes.

The extraordinary attack took place in a quiet neighborhood in the suburb of Nirobi, Kenya. CCTV footage captured the entire event, from the moment a stray lioness invaded the family garden by scaling the walls to her appearance minutes later with the 75kg Rottweiler dog in her teeth.

We can then see the queen of the jungle walking away with the defenseless animal in the claws of her powerful jaws, without the knowledge of the dog’s owners at the time. The dog, Jaci, and her littermate, Laser, had been part of the Wamai family for almost two years.

Sylvia Wamai recalled these horrific events, explaining that after scaling the walls of their gated enclosure, the lioness’ attack lasted less than a quarter of an hour in total. She told the BBC: “It didn’t even take 10 minutes. Just like that we lost our dog.”

The devastated owner even pointed out that the lioness had left paw prints on the walls of the property. Even though they were home at the time of the incident, they had no idea what was happening and were powerless to stop it. Sylvia said: “We were shocked because we were outside looking for our dog and the lioness was only a few meters from the gate.”

Joshua Isigi, an employee of the family property, said he came face to face with the dangerous animal. He said: “I picked up a machete and scratched it against some metal sheets to scare it. »

Although the family’s gated property is close to a national park, which is home to a range of wildlife that can usually be seen nearby, it is extremely rare for them to invade local homes in the area.

Sylvia, whose family are shocked and devastated, said: “It’s hard to give love to a dog and then remember the other one was taken away, and it wasn’t a normal death. It’s something that shocked us out of nowhere. It’s just sad.”
