USDA Secretary Announces Funding for Youth Development Nonprofit – The Presidential Prayer Team
He highlighted efforts to support urban producers, create new markets and strengthen local food systems.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently visited a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Georgia, dedicated to youth development and fostering the next generation of entrepreneurs, farmers and community leaders. Accompanied by Congressman Sanford Bishop, USDA Secretary announced $145,000 in funding for the nonprofit organization, as part of a $1.5 million grant awarded under the new USDA Urban County Committee pilot program. The investment will support educational programs, training and marketing efforts.

“Urban producers play a critical role in the agricultural economy,” said Secretary Vilsack. “We are committed to supporting all producers, regardless of their age or the size and location of their farms. »

The USDA has launched various initiatives, including partnerships for climate-smart products and the creation of regional food business centers, to create new market opportunities and provide technical assistance to farmers and food businesses.

Under the direction of the Lord, pray with us…

  • For Secretary Vilsack to receive guidance from God as he leads the Department of Agriculture.
  • Let USDA officials exercise discretion when promoting and supporting urban agriculture and agriculture.
