Locker room celebrations until 2am, Punjabi music and champagne shower: How KKR celebrated the IPL title

Well after the trophy was handed over, the entire Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clan – from players to support staff to family members – was still on the field. Everyone wore special “Champions of 2024” T-shirts and many reels were recorded for social media timelines.

The on-site events team was busy dismantling the setup set up for the presentation ceremony, but KKR was in party mode.

The likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh treated fans to plenty of selfies and even distributed some of their gear to the ground staff. Mentor Gautam Gambhir was all smiles as he posed for a family photo with the IPL trophy. His two daughters and his wife were with him and all three wore “Champions of 2024” t-shirts.

When the family members finished celebrating and clicking, the players and support staff entered the locker room for a long celebration.

Owners Shah Rukh Khan, Jay Mehta and Juhi Chawla were with the entire team and thunderous applause after many speeches could be heard even outside.

After almost 45 minutes, the dressing room doors finally opened and SRK was the first to come out as he made his way to the white Mercedes waiting to take him back to the hotel. Juhi and Jay were next, followed by general manager Venky Mysore.

Right behind the owners were the players and White Brown Black by Karan Aujla was screaming on the loudspeaker that Nitish Rana carried in his hand. The southpaw tried out a not-so-melodious song and looked in good spirits. Just like skipper Shreyas Iyer who greeted the handful of spectators who had climbed a wall to see the departure of the KKR team bus.

The trophy was neatly placed on the first seat, next to where Gambhir was sitting. Photographs with the coveted coin glowing gold continued even on the team bus and from what happened on the field, one thing was clear. It was going to be a long night for the KKR unit.

The celebrations didn’t stop there and when they arrived at the team hotel, some cakes and champagne were waiting for them. Sunil Narine, who celebrated his birthday on May 26, did the cake-cutting honors before skipper Shreyas opened a bottle of champagne and splashed it on his teammates.

The loud cheers from the group and a few people watching from a safe distance continued, as did the champagne shower. This was just the beginning of what promises to be a big, big party!
