Chelsea offer Premier League star contract to replace Thiago Silva

Chelsea remain active in the transfer market this summer although they are yet to name a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino who left the club seven days ago, halfway through his contract.

Chelsea have offered a contract to Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo in a bid to beat Newcastle to the defender.

The Fulham ace is set to see his contract expire at Craven Cottage in the coming weeks and has therefore attracted interest from several clubs. Eddie HOwe’s supporters have been the main pursuers of the 26-year-old and are already said to be close to a deal.

Despite interest from Manchester United, it was Chelsea who threw themselves into the ring. The managerless side remain active in the market, with the club’s structure allowing sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley to guide transfer activity, regardless of who takes the place at Stamford Bridge.

The club are yet to confirm Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement, but appear to favor the appointment of Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca. The Blues have requested permission to begin talks with the former manager of Man City’s elite development team.

However, the west London outfit are also considering Tosin, who could prove a valuable addition on a free transfer. The City youth product has played 20 times in the Premier League this season under Marco Silva.

Also a move to Newcastle would see the central defense challenge for a starting place, while a move to west London could see Tosin replace Thiago Silva. The Brazilian veteran left Chelsea after his contract was not renewed and he was allowed to join Fluminense before it expires next month.

The new Chelsea boss will have a number of options for the heart of his back line with Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah all vying for a place. Wesley Fofana could also add to the competition upon his return from an anterior cruciate ligament injury which saw him miss the entire 2023/24 season.

Chalobah could yet leave the club with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy reportedly willing to allow him to leave for £25million. This is despite the Cobham product proving to be one of the club’s most reliable players in the final weeks of the season.
