Silent Hill announcements set to release this week

Konami has announced a second Silent Hill Transmission show.

This show will cover updates to the game, another look at the Return to Silent Hill film adaptation and spin-off products, Konami said.

Although Konami has kept additional details of the series under wraps, I have some ideas on what we can expect. First of all, I’m sure we’ll see more of the Silent Hill 2 remake, and maybe even get a release date. In January, a promotional video from PlayStation seemed to suggest that the remake would be released at some point this year.

When it comes to gameplay, the Silent Hill 2 Remake team may want to redeem themselves after a previous combat-focused trailer failed to wow audiences. In fact, developer Bloober said that this previous teaser failed to “capture the spirit of the game,” adding that Konami was responsible for the marketing. Then, last month, Bloober said he was “very confident” and “excited” about Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Another game I expect to see on Thursday is Silent Hill: f, which was first announced in 2022 during the first Silent Hill Transmission show. It was revealed with a goosebump-inducing trailer that gave me goosebumps, and it’s giving me goosebumps again just thinking about it. This particular release will be the first new mainline game in the series in over a decade.

We might also see more of Silent Hill: Townfall, announced alongside f.

On the film side, I’m also waiting for a release date for Return to Silent Hill, as well as a cinematic trailer. Last year it was announced that War Horse’s Jeremy Irvine had been cast as James in the upcoming album, with Hannah Emily Anderson playing his “true love”, presumably Mary.

A leaked synopsis for Return to Silent Hill previously stated that James would return to Silent Hill in search of “his lost love Mary Crane” (in the game, James returns to Silent Hill in search of his wife Mary Shepherd-Sunderland, suggesting that the characters might not be married in this adaptation).

Silent Hill Transmission will premiere on the Silent Hill YouTube channel on May 30 at 4 p.m. PDT. It’s midnight for those of us here in the UK.
