But he lived a nightmare for six months making individual mistakes and even getting kicked out.

Phillips, 28, made just ten appearances for London but did not feature in West Ham’s final three Premier League games of the season.

The former England international faces an uncertain future on his return to City after falling out with manager Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola once criticized Phillips for returning from the 2022 Winter World Cup “overweight”.

But according to Sky Sports, the former Leeds star is in line for another second chance, with Everton interested in signing him.

Phillips could go out on loan again, with City struggling to move the player permanently.

A return to Leeds, however, was deemed unlikely after their play-off final defeat to Southampton.

Phillips admitted Guardiola’s comments about weight had “a big dent” on his trust in his family and also made him unhappy with the public slam.
