Logansport Parks and Recreation announces summer programs

The Logansport Parks and Recreation Department announced the weekly schedule of new summer 2024 programs in a press release. Activities will be offered every week in different parks.

On Mondays, the Walking Club will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Huston Park and will meet at McNarny Pavilion. Drop-in sports will take place at Fairview Park and meet at the Federal Security Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Parents must sign a waiver to participate.

On Tuesdays, pop-up art classes will take place at a cost of $2 per project at Huston Park at McNarny Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Green Guardians volunteer group will also meet at Riverside Park and meet at McCord Pavilion from 5 to 6 p.m. pm on Tuesday.

On Wednesdays, Park in a Box will meet from 9-10 a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m. They will alternate between Riverside Park and Huston Park. Drop-in sports will take place at Riverside Park and meet at McCord Pavilion from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Parents must sign a waiver to participate.

On Thursdays, the Walking Club will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Huston Park and will meet at McNarny Pavilion. They will also meet from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Riverside Park and meet at McCord Pavilion. A pop-up art class costing $2 per project will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. in Spencer Park and will meet at picnic tables near the eco-building.

Recreation activities are led by Recreation Director Kara Yax, Recreation Assistant Heidi Kitchel and Recreation Assistant Sydney Baldwin. All other programs are free, except for pop-up art classes. The Morning Walking Club is a collaboration with the Cass County Health Department and participants will be able to check their vital signs before and after their walk.
