Celtic vs RB Leipzig: French referee confirmed for Champions League match

UEFA have confirmed the match officials for Celtic’s meeting with RB Leipzig in the Champions League. The Scottish champions face the Bundesliga outfit at Celtic Park as Brendan Rodgers’ side prepare for a match that could be huge for their qualification hopes.

The European governing body has confirmed the appointment of French referee Benoît Bastien for the encounter on Tuesday evening. Bastien is assisted by compatriots Hicham Zakrani and Aurélien Berthoumieu, while Thomas Leonard acts as fourth official.

Meanwhile, Benoît Millot takes on the role of video assistant referee, with Italian official Maurizio Mariani assisting.

The 41-year-old took charge of Celtic’s 2-1 win over Feyenoord last season as Brendan’s side found a later winner to beat Arne Slot’s Dutch side. Gustaf Lagerbielke connected with Matt O’Riley’s cross in the 90th minute to give Celtic a taste of a Champions League win.

Celtic go into the match on the back of an excellent 6-0 win over Aberdeen to set up a Premier Sport Cup final against Rangers, while Borussia Dortmund defeated RB Leipzig. Both teams hope to get three points, while Celtic want to take a step towards qualification, while the Germans want to get their first points of the new competition.
