The Pahartali Police Station of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) yesterday (November 4) raided the Sagarika Intersection area and arrested two people involved in the looting of the police station on August 5.

The police have also recovered a looted pistol and many other police equipment from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Md. Mahabur Rahman, 27, and Nur Nabi, 25.

Kazi Mohammad Tarek Aziz, Additional Deputy Commissioner (PR and Media) of CMP, confirmed the details of the operation through a press release in the evening.

According to the press release, 27-year-old Mahabur Rahman, a suspect in the looting and arson at Pahartali police station, was arrested in the morning. “After a thorough investigation, it was revealed that Mahabur, along with six to seven other persons, was involved in the incident,” he added.

Police found several items used by police officers in his home, including a police uniform, watches, mobile phones, shoes, an umbrella and a raincoat. After further interrogation, Mahabur disclosed the location of more stolen items, leading police to a pond near B Tech Bazar, where they recovered two burnt motorcycles.

Upon further questioning, Mahabur revealed the identity of his accomplice, Nur Nabi. Police conducted a raid in the Railway Housing Society area and arrested him at 3.30 pm. Later, based on information provided by both suspects, a raid was conducted at 5pm in Ispahani Hills where officers unearthed a 9mm pistol stolen from Pahartali police station around 6.30pm.

According to Pahartali police station officials, legal proceedings are underway against the arrested suspects.
