Biden says Israel offered ceasefire deal, urges Hamas to accept it

Israeli officials reportedly offered Hamas a three-phase ceasefire deal.

President Joe Biden discussed the plan on Friday, as the Israeli military confirmed it was operating in central areas of Rafah as part of a broader offensive in the southern Gaza city.

Biden said Hamas was “no longer capable” of carrying out another large-scale attack on Israel, according to the Associated Press, and he urged the Israelis and Hamas to reach an agreement to release the remaining hostages.

“Israel has made its proposal. Hamas says it wants a ceasefire. This deal is an opportunity to prove if they really mean it,” Biden said.
