Westbrook man convicted after South Portland bank robbery, menacing

PORTLAND, Maine (WABI) – A Westbrook man was sentenced in U.S. District Court Tuesday to three years in prison for a bank robbery in which he threatened to blow up the building.

Jason Arsenault, 41, of Westbrook, drove into a drive-thru window of a South Portland bank in January.

Using the tube, he passed a note to the cashier that read: “CAR BOMB No police alert or we all die $50,000 in the 20s,” according to court records.

The cashier put cash in the tube and Arsenault drove away.

He was arrested six days later and told authorities where the money was.

All but $1,700 was recovered, which he must pay.
