4-star Donovan Murph talks Clemson offer

4-star Donovan Murph talks Clemson offer

During Dabo Swinney’s high school camp opening session, several of the top receivers in the 2026 class worked out for Clemson’s coaching staff, one of them being top prospect State Donovan Murph.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound 4-star recruit (Irmo) stood out alongside other wideouts including Jordan Gidron, Naeem Burroughs and Ole Miss Dillon Alfred.

“Coach (Tyler) Grisham, he told me he was trying to get all the best guys together,” Murph told the Clemson Insider. “It was great to see all these guys compete. I was having fun watching the guys too.

Murph would eventually earn an offer from the Tigers in the process, and while he may not have been the first to announce it publicly, he was the first wide receiver in the class to accept one.

“When they told me I was the first receiver to be offered in the 2026 class, it was just awesome,” Murph said. “It was a blessing when I really realized how important it was. »

Clemson has been recruiting Murph for a long time, despite the just released offer and Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, North Carolina State, Alabama, Ole Miss and Oregon are some of the other schools he currently hears the most about. Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas A&M are all set for summer visits.

However, although it is still early in his recruitment, Clemson stands out, and that is due to the Tigers’ meticulous process during the recruiting process.

“Just the process, they don’t offer just anyone either,” Murph said. “It’s great to see that, because I know I’m really being evaluated.” They really want me to be a part of the program. That’s why the supply is so big, because they’re really selective about the guys they want. Some people don’t like the process, but I actually like it, you know, because I was really able to do everything. They were able to evaluate my tape, I was able to suit up for Coach Swinney, and it all feels good to me in the end, because I know, like I really pulled him out of the mud, and I I really deserved it. So it’s great to know that they believe in my talents and what I can bring to their program.

Although there is no timetable for making a decision, Murph said it is possible he will release a list of top schools by the end of the summer. Even if he doesn’t know it, he knows what he’s looking for in a college destination and he feels like several schools currently meet the criteria.

“I’m just looking for a school that compliments me as a player, a great system that I can fit into and a great system that can help me become a great young man,” Murph said. “At the end of the day, I just want to become one of the best receivers. And I know that some of the schools that I have offers to can help me get there and develop and have longevity in the NFL. That’s really my biggest goal, is to have longevity. Not only make the league, but stay there for a long time.
