Jammu and Kashmir terror attacks: Congress questions PM Modi’s ‘silence’ on Kathua and Doda attacks

On June 12, the Congress said the BJP’s loud and “hollow” claims about the return of peace and normalcy to Jammu and Kashmir had been fully exposed by the three terrorist attacks in the region in the last three last days.

Pawan Khera, Congress leader and in-charge of the media and publicity department, also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the issue, saying he had time to respond to Pakistani leaders, but no time to condemn the brutal terrorist attacks.

“The BJP’s chest beating and empty claims of return to peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir have been on full display. The fact that the BJP did not even bother to fight the elections in the Kashmir valley is testimony to the fact that their ‘Naya Kashmir policy is a dismal failure,” Mr. Khera said in a statement.

His remarks come against the backdrop of rising terrorist incidents in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Mr. Khera claimed that over the last 10 years, the Modi government’s “loud chest-thumping” has made national security a “casualty”. “While innocent people suffer the consequences of cowardly terrorist attacks, the status quo continues,” he said.

“Even as Shri Narendra Modi and his NDA government were taking oath and heads of state were visiting the country, India suffered a horrific and gruesome terrorist attack in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, where nine were killed and at least 33 people were injured. , when terrorists fired on a bus full of pilgrims going from Shiv Khori temple to Katra,” he said.

“Even innocent children were not spared. Didn’t the victims deserve a word of sympathy from the self-proclaimed ‘divine’ Prime Minister,” he asked.

Following this, the Congress leader said, another terror attack took place in Kathua, where a civilian was injured. On June 11, he said, six security personnel and one civilian were injured in an encounter with terrorists in Chhatrakala, Doda, Jammu.

According to officials, terrorists opened fire at a joint checkpoint manned by the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police in the Chattergalla area along Bhadarwah-Pathankot.

“A wave of terrorist attacks has hit Jammu and Kashmir in the last three days, while PM Modi is busy posting replies to congratulatory tweets from Pakistani leaders Nawaz Sharif and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif .

“Why did he not utter a single word on these dastardly terrorist attacks? Why did he maintain stoic silence,” Mr. Khera asked.

“Is it not a fact that Pir Panjal Range Rajouri and Poonch has become a hotbed of cross-border terrorism in the last two years, as more than 35 soldiers were killed following terrorist attacks in these areas during “And now the terror has also spread to the neighboring district of Reasi, which was considered relatively peaceful,” he said.

The Congress leader noted that at least 19 major terrorist attacks took place on security installations under the Modi government, including on CRPF camps, army camps, an Air Force station and military stations at Pulwama, Pampore, Uri, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, and the Amarnath Yatra attack. , Sunjwan army camp, Poonch terror attacks where dozens of precious lives were lost.

“Is it not true that the Modi government invited the rogue ISI to investigate the Pathankot attack in 2016,” he asked. Is it not true that the Modi government has endangered national security even as 2,262 terrorist attacks took place in Jammu and Kashmir in which 363 civilians died and 596 jawans were martyred, a added Mr. Khera.
