Five dead in plane crash at Mesa's Falcon Field Airport

MESA, Ariz. – Five people were killed Tuesday afternoon in a plane crash shortly after takeoff from Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport.

Flames and smoke billowed from the crash at the nearby airport Greenfield and McKellips roads around 4:40 pm on November 5. Authorities say the plane crashed into a car.

The five people on board who died were not identified.

“Our community suffered a tragic loss this afternoon. We had a plane take off from Falon Field Airport in Mesa and upon takeoff it crashed into a single vehicle on Greenfield Road,” said Marrisa Ramirez-Ramos, spokesperson for the Fire Department and Medical department of Mesa. .

The NTSB, FAA, Mesa Fire and Medical and Mesa Police are investigating.
