Odessa announces several new road projects, closing some roads for weeks

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The City of Odessa announced several road closures Wednesday that will impact local drivers for several weeks.

Beginning Thursday, June 13, the alley between Pine Avenue and Sherwood Street will be closed while Driver Pipeline, an Atmos Energy contractor, works on the gas main lines. This project is expected to take up to a month.


Residents in the area are asked to follow all traffic controls, use alternate routes and expect delays as work continues. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Atmos at 888-286-6700.

Beginning Monday, June 17, the right eastbound lane of West Murphy Street will be closed between Foster Avenue and Oak Avenue. Eastbound traffic will be merged into the existing center lane to maintain two-way traffic along West Murphy Street.

No further details were provided for this project.

Also beginning Monday, June 17, a contractor will install a private fire line between East Eighth Street and Meadow Avenue, resulting in the closure of a right-hand double lane. The project is expected to last two weeks.

On Monday, June 19, the City will undertake a water main replacement project on Fly Avenue between 19th Street and 20th Street. The alley between Fly Avenue and County Road West will also be closed for the duration of this project. This project is expected to last four weeks.
