The American people have spoken clearly that Donald Trump is their choice for president. They sent a clear message to coastal elites that it is the working class and middle America who run this country.

Vice President Kamala Harris has made a creditable effort in a short time and has certainly done a better job than President Joe Biden would have done. There will be many doubts, especially surrounding her inability to choose Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her vice presidential running mate, but the blue wall collapsed to such an extent that even that decision would likely not reverse that outcome.

Americans were dissatisfied with the direction of the country. Voters believed they were worse off under Joe Biden, whom they blamed for inflation. They wanted a closed border and a leader who would once again exude strength and not weakness.

But Donald Trump is probably the only Republican who could have won this race, because only he was able to speak to working-class voters who feel left out of a Democratic agenda that offered handouts rather than opportunities and cared more about climate change than lower energy prices. These Trump voters have different priorities.

His campaign was purposeful Michigan voters on jobs for auto workers, Pennsylvania voters on fracking, Arizona on immigration and Nevada on “no tax on tips.” These targeted efforts all appealed to the working class of these states and expanded their opportunities.

Trump did better with almost everyone. The exit polls show that he has done better, especially among younger voters. Democrats lost ground to Latinos and even black voters, who did not turn out as they did with other Democrats.

The Democrats must now dismantle the legal campaign they have put together and acknowledge that America voted and said January 6 is history and a chapter has been closed. It is now the Democrats who must pass on power with dignity and grace so as not to spoil their chances of a return in 2028.

And the party will have to look at how far left it has drifted and reset itself for 2028. That’s a presidential election in which there will be open primaries on both sides of the political aisle and America will have a chance to chart a course to make. the next decade.

The liberal media once again lost the trust of the American people, fell to new lows in the polls and will have to work on resetting their newsrooms.

The polls were again just a few points too conservative and there were again two to three points of so-called shy Trump voters waiting for their vote to be announced on Election Day. The magnitude of Trump’s victory only unfolded as the votes were counted and no poll really predicted the full extent of the victory. Iowa, Ohio and Florida were all once considered swing states and now aren’t even close.

Trump’s victory is a victory for Americans who feel abandoned by the elites and a Democratic Party that is too far removed from mainstream America.

Now it will be Trump’s turn to learn from his first administration and try to lead this country forward and use the power the American people put in his hands wisely.
