Liberty City Rage Room Offers Stress Relief in Midland

Is your desktop computer still wreaking havoc in your life? Have you ever woken up and wanted to throw the alarm across the room? Do you feel like throwing a plate at dinner time?

Liberty City Rage Room has the solution. The Rage Room officially opened its doors in August 2020; However, co-owner Jason Morrison said that in September 2022, the business moved to a downtown Midland office building located at 401 W. Texas Ave.

As for the average cost of quality time spent breaking an old TV into smithereens, Morrison said it depends on the number of guests and the type of room the company can set up for them.

To give an idea of what some rooms are made of, Morrison said the Bedroom Beatdown typically includes a mirror or large framed picture, three electronic devices (such as a television, DVD or VCR player, monitor, stereo , a telephone, a lamp), two large breakable objects (such as a large vase, a statue, a flowerpot, a coffee pot, a large bottle of wine, large plates and bowls), two medium-sized breakable objects ( such as a vase, a clock or a bottle of wine) and 25 small objects.

As for the types of guests who frequent the Rage Room, Morrison explained that the rooms are booked for a high frequency of events like date nights, corporate team buildings and even birthday parties .

“There is a capacity of five people per room,” he said, adding that safety requirements are listed on Liberty City’s website.
“Most of our customers have come to try something different. People come to relieve stress first and because it seems fun.”

Morrison added that he sometimes sees customers come in just to shake off a bad day.

“It’s rare, and I would say it affects no more than five percent of our customers,” he said. “It’s a place where people can just come in and have a good time. It’s liberating for them because what we do here is something you can’t do outside.”

As for advice, Morrison said to check the safety guidelines on his website.

“We provide safety helmets, coveralls and face shields to our customers,” he said. “Guests should expect to wear closed-toed shoes.”

For those hesitant to release their rage by swinging a hammer at a computer screen, Morrison said he frequently sees this kind of apprehension at first.

“It’s like something suddenly changed and they were ready to do more,” he commented.

Liberty City Rage Room is open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Their last meeting begins at 9:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduled appointments are preferred.
