Wolves’ Matheus Cunha breaks silence on Manchester United transfer rumors

Wolves sensation Matheus Cunha has expressed his pride at buzz linking him with a move to Manchester United, saying it was a ‘real honour’ but also noting ‘you never know’ what the future holds .

Mirror Football reports that the Red Devils kept close tabs on Cunha last season as he scored 12 Premier League goals in 32 appearances, and he is believed to be top of their list of candidates to replace Anthony Martial, whose time At the club ended after the conclusion of his contract.




Cunha is exactly the sort of talent new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe envisions at Old Trafford. A video circulating on social media shows the 25-year-old discussing a possible move to United with friends.

Asked if he would wear the United shirt, Cunha said: “You know it’s a real honor to have your name linked to Manchester United. One of the biggest clubs in the world. But I’m happy at Wolves.”

He added: “If I’m lucky I’ll play another good season, but the window is open, you never know,” reports the Mirror.

This is not the first time Cunha has commented on United rumours, having previously told Globo Esporte: “Whenever I can, I come (to Botafogo-PB matches).”

“I always want to show that (the affection) is mutual. Then we see this talk (Manchester United). But I’m very happy at Wolves. I’m focusing on rest and making the most of my time with my family. I am very happy at Wolves. The goal now is to achieve better seasons and help the club, God willing, I will continue on this path.

Cunha secured his place at Wolves in January 2023 on loan from Atletico Madrid, followed by a permanent £44 million move at the end of the season. His performance caught the attention of Wolves skipper Max Kilman, particularly noticing Cunha’s growth during his first full spell at Molineux.
