BJP core committee meeting: Former Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh remains silent ahead of party meeting | Kolkata News

Kolkata: Ahead of the BJP core committee meeting on Saturday where he is likely to meet senior officials of the party’s Bengal unit, former Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh chose to remain unusually silent on Friday. Ghosh had previously claimed that he was not asked to attend any party. met a long time in the past. On Thursday, however, he was invited to attend Friday’s meeting at the party headquarters in Kolkata. Later, the meeting was postponed to Saturday evening. Sources close to Ghosh said he learned of the change in schedule much later. Although Ghosh did not launch an attack, BJP East Midnapore MP Ashok Dinda on Friday trained guns on him. He said Ghosh should have conveyed his apprehensions regarding the Burdwan-Durgapur constituency to the party. “In the 2021 assembly elections, he was offered the Kharagpur constituency and he refused. The party accepted it. He could, this time too, have spoken of his apprehensions. There is no point in speaking out after defeat,” Dinda said. Ghosh visited the meeting on Friday afternoon regarding some issues related to ‘his pension’. Instead of going to Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari’s room, Ghosh went to the assembly staff room. None of the BJP MPs were seen to meet or greet Ghosh. After nearly an hour in the assembly, he reached the Muralidhar Sen Lane party office. “So far, I have not heard anything from the Delhi leadership. They may be busy with the new government,” Ghosh said. Asked about Saturday’s central committee meeting, Ghosh said such meetings “happen from time to time.” “You shouldn’t read much into it,” he said. Suvendu Adhikari, who is also scheduled to attend the meeting, may travel to Cooch Behar.
