“They can trust me.” Meet Rep. Bob Good, 5th District Congressional Candidate

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – One of the most contentious races in Virginia is the Republican race for a spot on the 5th Congressional District ballot.

The contest is between incumbent Rep. Bob Good and Virginia state Sen. John McGuire. The race attracts millions of dollars and national support.

“We need to actually do the things you elected us to do,” said Rep. Bob Good (R).

In a room full of supporters, Good pledged to continue working in the best interests of the American people. He has represented the 5th congressional district since January 2021.

“They can trust me; they know I’m a consistent conservative,” Good added. “They know I’m the same in public as I am in private, and I think they like me to fight for them.”

Good says the district faces the same problems as the rest of the country.

“Food prices are about 30% higher than they were when this president took office. Gas prices are around 50% higher. Real estate prices and interest costs have skyrocketed. Utilities are higher,” Good said. “The American people are really suffering from the Biden economy. »

Good says he is committed to fighting the issues that affect his constituents.

“In fact, I fought as a true conservative. I fought to secure the border, I fought to reduce our spending, I fought to protect our constitutional freedoms. Those are really the three things that I prioritized,” Good explained.

That’s why Good and his supporters are accused in campaign ads that he’s not stupid as a conservative, especially as chair of the Freedom Caucus.

“My opponent knows we are ahead in this race,” Good said. “And that’s why you’re going to see this get even nastier and more dishonest from my opponent.”

Former President Donald Trump, running for president again this year, endorsed Good’s primary challenger, McGuire.

“Bob Good is actually bad for Virginia and he will stab you in the back like he did me,” Trump said in a video.

Tensions began when Good supported Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president last year. But Good says he has been a Trump supporter since 2016 and will continue to support him.

“I’ve said it many times since I’ve been in Congress, he’s the best president I’ve ever had,” Good said. “I’m part of President Trump’s team. I am sure he will join my team on June 19, after defeating my opponent and winning these elections.”

In Congress, Good says he accomplished what he promised.

“If elected, I will continue to do what I have done for my first three and a half years, because that is what the people of the 5th District have asked me to do,” Good said. “I will continue to fight for their constitutional freedoms.”
