Contrary to popular opinion, the tradition of country and western singing is still alive and well in Canada.

Although they may be overshadowed by mainstream pop-country, authentic songwriters and troubadours continue to thrive across North America, performing in intimate bars and honky tonks where they can truly connect with their audience.

Fishbum Records is proud to announce the second Country & Western Songwriters Showcase, taking place at the Rec Room in Barrie, Ontario on July 6, 2024.

This year’s showcase will include:

Falcon Jane (Shelburne, ON)
Falcon Jane, led by singer-songwriter Sara May, blends indie pop with folk and rock elements to create a dreamy, atmospheric sound. Known for his debut album “Feelin’ Freaky,” Falcon Jane continues to captivate audiences with his introspective music. Currently living in rural Ontario, Sara May’s love of traditional country music shines through in her latest work, including the single “I Own the Road,” a heartfelt song embodying the classic archetype of the long-haul trucker. mail.

Fraser Wayne (Springwater, ON) – with Darryl Hannah at Pedal Steel
Fraser Wayne’s journey began in rural Ontario and evolved through his experiences in Montreal’s vibrant music scene. With influences ranging from Americana to spaghetti western soundtracks, Fraser’s music is characterized by honest songwriting and imaginative storytelling. Returning to his hometown of Springwater, Fraser’s prolific output includes three LPs and numerous singles, all released on his Fishbum Records label. Its haunting, gothic approach to country and western should leave a lasting impression.

Madison Mueller (Barrie, ON) – solo
Madison Mueller’s unique sound and style have earned her a devoted following online and in her hometown of Barrie. Active in the local music scene, Madison taught piano and voice, performed at various venues, and busked downtown. Her commitment to her community earned her the Emerging Artist Award at the Barrie Arts Awards in 2019. Madison’s vivacious personality and experimental approach to songwriting make her an artist to watch.
