Shocked resident catches burglars breaking into his house

Would-be burglars fled a property near Swindon after the owner caught them trying to break in.

On Friday around 9:40 p.m., three men smashed the rear patio door of a home on Artis Avenue in Wroughton.

One of the suspicious strangers reached through the broken window to unlock and start opening the door when his victim noticed the intrusion, Wiltshire Police said.

The resident came downstairs and saw the trio, who then fled towards Berkeley Road without taking anything from inside.

Police said the first suspect was wearing black pants, a navy blue jacket, a black cap and a black balaclava.

The second suspect was wearing black pants, black shoes, a gray top, red gloves, a black balaclava and a white cap.

The third suspect was wearing black pants, black shoes, a white hoodie and a gray balaclava.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for any witnesses or doorbell/CCTV footage from the Wroughton area, in particular Artis Avenue, Berkeley Road, Swindon Road, Moormead Road, Baileys Way and Perry’s Lane.
