Manchester City captain Kyle Walker admits Jack Grealish’s England removal came as a shock.

Grealish was dropped by manager Gareth Southgate for England’s final Euro squad.

Walker said. ITV: “Shocked because I know what Jack can do.

“Was I shocked because of the players he (Southgate) brought in? No because I think they are all high quality and they have all had fantastic seasons.

“I think Jack would be the first to say he could have had a better season. I think he’s been on record saying he could have had a better season.

“So what does the manager base it on? The form or the people he knows who had good tournaments or a good season, the previous season, you know.

“You’re here on merit and I think it should always be that way. That you’re in this team because you’ve played well for your club, which then puts you in the England fold.”
