Borussia Dortmund send clear message to Man United star Jadon Sancho after issuing statement

Borussia Dortmund have made their feelings for on-loan striker Jadon Sancho clear as they enter a summer of uncertainty at Manchester United.

The 24-year-old ended his second spell in Germany in disappointment last week following Dortmund’s 2-0 defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Wembley, but his time at the club may not be not yet finished. United still intend to sell Sancho this summer, MEN Sports understand.

With Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford still unresolved, Sancho is in limbo as the summer break approaches ahead of pre-season. If he were to ultimately leave, Dortmund would be one of the teams most likely to be interested.

This feeling, it seems, is mutual. Since leaving United in January in search of minutes following his falling out with Ten Hag, Sancho has cut a much happier figure. This was also reflected in his football with more remarkable performances both domestically and in Europe.

After finishing the season with Dortmund, Sancho took to Instagram with a moving review and set of thanks. “What a crazy 6 months @bvb09,” he wrote. “We win together, we lose together, these moments only make us stronger! I’m so grateful to be part of such an incredible group of players!

“I want to congratulate Real Madrid on their Champions League victory. We didn’t succeed that night, but we should be very proud of ourselves. We are a family and these moments will not break us! Thanks to everyone who came to support us on this special day!

“@bvb09 I want to thank everyone involved in such an incredible club. I can’t thank you enough for welcoming me like you all have over these last 6 months.

“Thank you to Edin Terzić, Sebastian Kehl and Hans-Joachim Watzke for believing in me and bringing me back. Finally, a special thank you to the BVB fans. Your support is incredible and I will be forever grateful!”

Sancho’s adoration for the club is clear, but Dortmund themselves have echoed his thoughts. “I love you, Jadon (hands heart emoji),” replied the club’s official account.

It’s now a waiting game for United, Dortmund and Sancho to see what his next move will be.
