LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A two-time attempted traffic stop in Flint late Friday night led to the confiscation of two firearms and the arrest of three men.

The Michigan State Police Third District posted a photo of a loaded AR-15-style pistol and a second loaded pistol on its social media page Sunday afternoon.

State troopers with the Flint Secure Cities Partnership stopped a car for an expired license plate around 11:30 p.m. Friday on Clio Road near Pasadena Avenue in Flint, MSP Third District said in the post.

The officers turned on their lights and the car pulled into a parking lot, but then sped away from the scene. The soldiers then activated their sirens and followed them, but did not pursue them.

A new MSP policy allows troopers to pursue high speeds only in cases involving suspects in life-threatening violent crimes.

A short distance away, the car stopped and officers reactivated the traffic stop.

They then searched the car and found the loaded AR-15 pistol as well as the other loaded pistol.

They arrested the three men, ages 26, 26 and 28, and booked them into the Genesee County Jail on felony charges.
