Marine Le Pen: ready to work alongside Macron

Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s far-right, has said she will not try to oust President Macron if she wins snap parliamentary elections that begin later this month. “I am respectful of institutions and I am not calling for institutional chaos,” Le Pen told Le Figaro newspaper. “There will simply be cohabitation.”

Le Pen is seeking to woo voters as she aims to consolidate a majority in the next parliament. His group, the National Rally, is already on course to become the largest party, a prospect that has alarmed investors and France’s international partners. Le Pen said that if she managed to form a majority – either with National Rally lawmakers alone or with allies – she would lead her party’s parliamentary caucus and Jordan Bardella, the party’s 28-year-old leader, would become prime minister. . The two-round elections will end on July 7.

Le Pen’s party is on course to win up to 270 of the 577 seats in the National Assembly, according to a projection by the Elabe survey institute, of which 289 are required to obtain an absolute majority. Macron and his allies are expected to win between 90 and 130.
