Downtown Port Gibson is in lockdown after an accident that knocked out power lines and poles

Port Gibson police said Wednesday that the downtown area is closed to traffic after a morning crash downed power lines and utility poles.

According to published reports, a Ryder truck could be seen entangled in power lines.

As a result, Port Gibson officials are asking all residents and visitors to avoid the downtown area until further notice, including Market and Walnut, Market and Orange, Market and Fair, Market and Olive, Flowers and Fair, Flowers and Olive and Anthony and Market.
