Fire Damage Room in Van Nuys House

Firefighters battled fierce flames Monday morning in a room of a one-story Van Nuys home.

The fire was reported at 1:43 a.m. at 6706 N. Blucher Ave. and flames were visible when firefighters arrived, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters cut ventilation holes in the roof above the burning room, allowing them to extinguish the flames in 24 minutes, at 2:07 a.m., Prange said.
