NOPD Announces Preliminary Crime Statistics for June 9-15, 2024

The following is a weekly report of citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analysis Unit for the period June 9-15, 2024.

Notable arrests made

During the indicated week, the NOPD also made the following notable arrest(s):

• On June 12, NOPD arrested Kymani Wyatt (Black male, DOB: 12-12-2002) in connection with an investigation into a homicide that occurred on March 18, 2024 in the 3000 block of General Avenue Meyer. Wyatt, who was already incarcerated at the Orleans Parish Justice Center on separate charges, was re-incarcerated on one count of second-degree murder.

Firearm arrests (arrests made under LA RS 14:95 and subelements)

Since the beginning of the year, the NOPD has made 284 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm. This is a 32 percent decrease from the 415 arrests made during the same period in 2023.
