The New Dawn Rumor reveals details about new game from Silent Hill 2 developer

Bloober Team is fresh off the heels of the Silent Hill 2 remakebut their next game is already planned. Cronos: The New Dawn is a survival horror game that tasks players with going back in time and braving an apocalyptic landscape to bring victims from the past to a better future.

The game Steam page provides a brief overview of the details. Our protagonist is equipped with a tool called the Harvester, and they are responsible for tackling the creepy stuff.

“You are a Traveler who acts as an agent for the enigmatic Collective, tasked with scouring the wastelands of the future for specific time rifts that will take you back to 1980s Poland,” the description reads. “Your mission is to locate key figures from the past who died in the ensuing apocalypse. Using your all-powerful Harvester, you can extract their Essences and have them accompany you into the future.”

Cronos: The monsters of The New Dawn are works of art of nightmarish nature.

Little else is known about the game, but one rumor has gotten a lot of attention, and if we are to believe it, players are in for a pretty punishing experience.

“The game is quite challenging, especially during combat and exploration,” said an insider ignusthewise posted. “The core loop is Future Exploration: Find time anomalies to return to the past (.) Past Exploration: Delve into the past to search for ‘souls’ (.) 17 main locations (.)”

This all adds up The Bloober team own description of the game’s mechanics. “Set in a grim world where Eastern European brutalism and retro-futuristic technology collide, Cronos: The New Dawn lets you experience a gripping story that straddles the border between past and future.”

The listing goes on to say that the game is set “in a desolate world full of ever-present danger” and that ingenuity is the name of the game.

“Your survival depends on your ability to strategize and plan ahead. The enemies you encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remains of humanity. If you want to defeat them, you must use your arsenal to its full potential. In battle, quick decisions can mean the difference between life and death.”

Describing the battle as “challenging” isn’t really a shock. Cronos‘ official reveal trailer gave us a look at some truly gruesome creatures, and if they’re as nasty to fight as they are to look at, they’ll be fighting alongside other threats from the same genre, like Dead space ferocious necromorphs.

All in all, there are still questions to be answered about the game, but this may be our best look at new details for now, as the release date has yet to be determined. Silent Hill 2 has also achieved tremendous success, so there’s no telling whether supporting that game will hinder development progress.

However, we do know Cronos: The New Dawn will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the future. So if it seems like a good time to scare the shit out of you, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for updates on this.
