Illinois Republican Chairman Don Tracy announces his resignation, wants his replacement to be named by the Milwaukee RNC 2024

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) — The chairman of the Illinois Republican Party has announced his intention to resign from his post.

In a letter to the party’s central committee Wednesday, Don Tracy said he was tired of power struggles within the party.

“In better days, Illinois Republicans came together after a tough intra-party election,” Tracy said in the release. “Now, however, we have Republicans who would rather fight other Republicans than engage in the more difficult work of defeating incumbent Democrats by convincing influential voters to vote Republican.”

Tracy returned to the volunteer position in 2021.

He said he would like a replacement to be named no later than July 19, the day after the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
