Maserati unveils heritage-inspired MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda

Maserati has revealed two special editions of the MC20, the MC20 Icona and the MC20 Leggenda, marking the 20th anniversary of the debut of the legendary MC12.

This duo celebrates Maserati’s return to racing in style while maintaining the brand’s rich heritage and cutting-edge engineering.

In 2004, after a 37-year hiatus, Maserati re-entered the competitive racing scene with the MC12, a firecracker model that quickly became a favorite in GT championships.

The MC12 GT1’s storied journey includes 27 FIA GT Championship victories and multiple titles won by teams, drivers and manufacturers from 2004 to 2010.

The MC12 Stradale, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and powered by a Ferrari-derived V12, remains Maserati’s fastest production car to date, with a top speed of 330 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration. h in just 3.8 seconds.

The MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda are intended to honor this heritage of motorsport performance, reflecting the triumphs of their predecessor with a modern twist.

Maserati said the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda would be produced in a limited series of just 20 units each, cementing their exclusivity.

The MC20 Icona pays homage to the MC12 Stradale with its Bianco Audace Matte and Blu Stradale livery. At the same time, the MC20 Leggenda takes inspiration from the MC12 GT1 Vitaphone with a stunning Nero Essenza and Digital Mint Matte finish.

The design of these special editions is heavily influenced by Maserati’s Fuoriserie customization program.

The MC20 Icona features distinct white accents, an Italian flag logo and blue painted brake calipers.

The Leggenda, meanwhile, sports Nero Lucido trident wheels and yellow Trident logos on the grille, doors and C-pillar, with black brake calipers adding a stylish touch.

Like their regular counterparts, the limited MC20 models feature the formidable Nettuno V6 engine, a cutting-edge powertrain that ushered in a new era for Maserati in 2020.

This Italian engine brings Formula 1 technology to standard production cars, delivering a blend of performance and efficiency previously unseen on the market.

Inside, the MC20 Icona and Leggenda continue the theme of luxury and performance. Both feature lightweight, four-way unibody racing seats with custom embroidery and a sophisticated Sonus Faber audio system.

The interiors are finished with a carbon fiber package, adding to the sporty yet refined ambience.
