Ami Alexandre Mattiussi Review of the Spring 2025 show, show and ready-to-wear collection

Alexandre Mattiussi never tires of his native Paris – nor its inhabitants. There was the 2022 show in Montmartre opened by French actress and Amélie star Audrey Tautou, while her fall 2024 collection had the backdrop of an elegant Parisian building, with models dressed as bourgeois neighbors going about their business daily.

For spring, he returns to Paris once again, dressing friends and neighbors for optimal chic in the heat of the city.

“I want to spend more time in Paris in the summer: going to museums, having two to three hour lunches and seeing my friends and family. These clothes are my summer night’s dream and I want people to be happy to wear them,” said the creator of his mixed collection, displayed on the upper floors of a historic building on Boulevard Saint-Germain.

Office workers and commuters, please turn away now. These were clothes aimed directly at a clientele of teleworkers whose days are long and quiet, and whose nights are focused on casual glamour.

Mattiussi drew from a warm, earthy palette of olive, lichen, cognac and mustard to create fitted, lightweight suits with cut, open backs and rolled-up sleeves; cool circular skirts reminiscent of a 50s Brigitte Bardot and easy-cut pants with thick, sporty stripes down the sides.

For evening, there were long, floaty pleated black dresses worn with flat sandals or backless slippers, and simple sleeveless dresses paired with silver and gold cuff bracelets.

To stave off the evening chill, there were oversized trench coats with rolled-up sleeves and plaid linings, as well as lightweight three-button coats with back slits.

Soft and plush leather bags stand out. They included totes for daily trips to the market and square shoulder bags – large and small – in colors like cognac and taupe.

During a guided tour, Mattiussi threw one of the bags over his shoulder and said: “Is it easy? You can wear it when you take the kids to school, wear it when you ride your scooter.

It was dressing for real life, with a big dose of glamour.
