Maya Houssain (Bharti Patel) The true motivations for his friendship with Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) have so far remained a mystery since his arrival in EastEnders last month.

But Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) gets closer to the truth next week, as she makes a shocking discovery about her partner’s new best friend.

Jean’s jealousy flares when Harvey and Maya meet at the Vic to watch the England match, but during the match Maya gets a headache and they head to the Slater house.

At issue 31, Maya is on the charm offensive and is very nice to Jean, who is starting to warm up to Harvey’s new friend – but things don’t stay that way for long.

When Maya goes to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, Jean wonders what’s taking her so long and goes to check on her, but is stunned by what she finds…

What exactly did John discover?

There has been much speculation about Maya’s character and whether there is more to her than meets the eye, after she mysteriously wandered into Albert Square and quickly bonded with Harvey over their shared love soccer.

During a recent conversation earlier this month, Maya explained to Harvey how her husband had recently died – which got viewers thinking.

When Harvey previously asked Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to help him search for Maya online after losing her number, it was revealed that her last name was Hussain – a name which will be familiar to EastEnders fans.

Back in 2021, Harvey’s son Aaron Monroe was involved in a far-right gang who targeted numerous people in racial hate crimes. One of their victims was a taxi driver called Mr Hussain, who fortunately survived the incident, but was seriously injured.

After warning Harvey about dropping her off at Albert Square, Maya confirmed her husband was a taxi driver, sparking suspicions from fans that he might be the man Harvey’s son attacked. Does Maya want revenge?
