Driver and 9-year-old passenger injured in rollover collision west of Malta Bend

SALINE CO., Mo. (KCTV) – A driver was seriously injured after being ejected from his vehicle during a rollover crash, while his 9-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that on Thursday, October 24, around 5:05 p.m., emergency services were called to the area of ​​Highway 65 and Missouri 127, approximately one and a half miles west of Malta Bend, for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found Zachary R. Womack, 47, of Gilliam, driving his 2014 Kia ​​Rio north on the highway when he turned off the road to the right. He then overcorrected, causing the car to veer off the left side of the road and roll over several times.

State Troopers noted that Womack was ejected from the vehicle during the collision. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time, but his 9-year-old passenger was.

Emergency officials said Womack and the child were both taken to the hospital Fitzgibbon Hospital – Womack with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the child with suspected minor injuries.
