Barcelona tell Hansi Flick when to expect Gavi ready to return

New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been told he will have to be patient when it comes to Gavi’s return from injury.

The midfielder has been out since suffering a torn ACL in November which required surgery and ended his campaign prematurely.

Diario AS reports that Barcelona have told Flick he is not expected to return until mid-November at the earliest as the injury has also affected his meniscus.

The news means Flick will have to be without Gavi for the first three months of the campaign, and possibly longer as he recovers from a very serious injury.

Gavi was spotted on the grass recently at the Ciutat Esportiva, but Barcelona will be very cautious about his return.

The report adds that Gavi’s recovery is still positive and on track, but that the priority is to “minimize risks” – given the recent history with Ansu Fati and Pedri, you can understand why.

Flick sees Gavi as a key player for his team as he possesses the energy, leadership, intensity and talent he will demand from his players.
