Philadelphia 76ers considering monster trade for Paul George

Philadelphia 76ers considering monster trade for Paul George

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking for a third star and a deal could happen sooner than expected.

Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George is the most rumored target, with a reported trade on NBA Draft day in the cards. Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer recently reported that the Sixers could move their first-round pick and forward Tobias Harris in exchange for George.

“The Sixers could include the No. 16 pick and even consider adding Tobias Harris via sign-and-trade as part of a package. Los Angeles has some interest in Harris,” Pompey wrote. “And if George chooses to become a free agent, don’t rule out Philly going after him.”

The 76ers front office, specifically Daryl Morey, has had a falling out with George’s teammate James Harden, but that doesn’t seem to affect the situation. One worrying factor for Philadelphia is that George has publicly stated that his goal for the rest of his career is to play the right brand of basketball rather than win a title. Their time to compete with former MVP Joel Embiid is running out, meaning their only priority is bringing in playoff-ready pieces.

Time will tell if Morey and the front office think George fits the description.
