Man charged after officers find fentanyl, marijuana during traffic stop in Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after officers found fentanyl and marijuana during a traffic stop in Clarksburg.

On June 20, officers with the Clarksburg Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on West Virginia Avenue for a stop sign violation, according to a criminal complaint.

When officers made contact with the vehicle’s occupants, one of whom was identified as Terrance Johnson, 35, they “could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” officers said.

After officers removed the occupants from the vehicle, they conducted a probable cause search during which they located two bags of marijuana weighing approximately 120 grams, a Glock 43X 9mm handgun with two magazines, a vial of pills containing approximately 3.94 grams of fentanyl, another bag containing oxycodone, as well as other pills containing fentanyl weighing a total of 25.45 grams, according to the complaint.

Johnson was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He is being held at the North Central Regional Jail.
