The Boys’ New Character, Firecracker, Was Inspired by One of America’s Worst Politicians

In news that should come as no surprise to anyone who has endured increasingly ridiculous political horrors over the past decade, it turns out that “The Boys” newcomer Firecracker (Valorie Curry) is inspired by ‘a true American politician. In a recent interview with Variety, series showrunner Eric Kripke explained where the idea for born-again Christian Supe, formerly known as Sparkler, came from, and it’s based on exactly what you’d expect .

“The firecracker comes from like, ‘Hey, isn’t Marjorie Taylor Greene scary?'” Kripke explained, noting that the character was born out of a “personality type” that’s been prevalent since Donald’s election Trump in 2016.
