14 flights to and from Auckland Airport canceled due to fog

Flights to and from Auckland Airport are facing delays and cancellations due to fog restrictions this evening.

Ten departing domestic flights and four arriving domestic flights were canceled due to fog, Air New Zealand said in an update this evening.

Major domestic flights were also affected, with three flights from Christchurch, one flight from Wellington and one flight from Queenstown being delayed.

International flights were not affected.

This comes as 45 regional flights were canceled and 44 delayed this morning.

The restrictions were first put in place at 2:40 a.m.

Passengers have been advised to check the Auckland Airport website or app for flight arrival and departure information.

On X, MetService said it was a “foggy morning for some”.

“Light winds are forecast and, as the sun is very low in the sky, the fog will likely take some time to clear today.”
