NASCAR Cup Series driver Joey Logano makes pit stop in Shenandoah Valley

WINCHESTER, VA. (WHSV) – Racing fans in the Shenandoah Valley were in for a special treat on Tuesday afternoon when two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano paid a visit to Winchester to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans.

Virginia is a place that’s been kind to Logano during his racing career. He has 10 consecutive top ten finishes at Martinsville Speedway. Most recently, he finished runner up at the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway March 31.

“(Virginia’s) always so pretty when you come up here, especially this time of year,” Logano said. “It’s nice to come out and say hello everyone.”

There’s eight races remaining in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season. Logano is currently holding on to the final playoff spot. While he has two runner-up finishes and five Top 10 finishes, a win would clinch a spot in the NASCAR Playoffs for the No. 22 team.

“We kind of find ourselves…not the most comfortable spot as we go into the playoffs,” Logano said. “Right now, we just got to stay focused in and have as many good races as we can.”

The Team Penske driver does believe the team is trending in the right direction in hopes of securing their first win this season.

“The speed in our cars keeps getting faster, which is important for that,” said Logano. “We just got to keep executing the race as well too.”

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Nashville this weekend before heading to Chicago for the second annual Chicago Street Race on July 7.
